Summary
We take the privacy of our users very seriously and only collect the data required to provide the features of the App that you choose to use.
We do not and will not ever sell your data. We will only ever share the minimum required information to provide the features you choose to use. We promise to always be transparent with how we use your data.
We will always comply with all relevant data protection laws.
1. What We Collect
AutoMate AI ("the App") collects the minimum data needed to provide vehicle tracking services:
- Account information: Email address and display name when you sign in via email, Google, or Apple.
- Vehicle data: Registration numbers you enter, plus MOT, tax, and insurance dates provided by you or retrieved from DVLA/DVSA public APIs on your behalf.
- Device tokens: Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens for sending reminder notifications.
- Preferences: Notification settings and premium subscription status, stored locally on your device.
2. How We Use Your Data
As a privacy focused company we only collect the data we need to provide the features of the App that you use. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We may use your data to:
- Display your vehicles' compliance status (MOT, tax, insurance) to you in the app.
- Send local and push notification reminders to you for upcoming deadlines.
- Authenticate your identity for account access.
- Send you information or in-app offers from local businesses you may be interested in based on the vehicles you have, due dates, and your general location (if you choose to share your postcode).
Any information shared will be high-level anonymised data only. For example, when trying to negotiate a special offer for our app users we may disclose to a business that we have X number of Porsche owners using our app within a 50 miles radius of their business.
We will not share any personal data with these businesses.
3. Third-Party Services
- Firebase (Google): Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Messaging, Crashlytics. See Firebase Privacy.
- DVLA/DVSA APIs: Vehicle and MOT data is retrieved from UK government APIs. No personal data is sent — only registration numbers.
- Apple/Google Sign-In: Handled by platform SDKs; we receive only the identity token and basic profile.
4. Data Storage and Security
As a privacy focused company we only collect the data we need to provide the features of the App that you use.
Account and vehicle data is stored in Google Cloud Firestore, protected by Firebase Authentication and Firestore security rules. Local preferences are stored on-device via SharedPreferences. API keys are compiled into the app binary and are not stored on our servers.
5. Data Retention
Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Settings screen in the app. We will delete all your Firestore data within 30 days of account deletion.
6. Your Rights
Under the UK Data Protection Act 2018 & GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email below or use the in-app account deletion feature.
7. Children
The App is not intended for people under 18 years old. We only record data we need to provide the service. We do not knowingly collect or store data from children.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via in-app notice before implementation.
